Welcome to Kaitoke School.

Kaitoke School is situated in a quiet rural setting just 5kms from the edge of the city of Wanganui. Our class sizes are small and we aim to keep them that way by having a zone and cap of 104 children in place for our school. We advertise when out of zone spaces become available. We provide a personalized, quality education. While we focus heavily on Literacy and Numeracy, we also ensure our curriculum is balanced and it caters for the many strengths and talents of our children.

The children at Kaitoke support, encourage and look out for each other. Our school operates as a large family where younger children have a safe nurturing environment to learn in and older children have many opportunities for leadership and extension.

Our modern classrooms are fully air-conditioned and each is fitted with a Mimeo and a pod of computers. Our new multi-purpose room, large covered outdoor space and library provide the children with specialized spaces for learning and fun. We have a school bus, a swimming pool, adventure playground, vegetable garden and fruit trees, soccer field and netball court.

We cater for children’s learning right through to Year 8. Our senior children participate in Technology classes, the Kids Lit Quiz®, Science Fair, speech competitions and Mathex name a few. A short camp in Term 1 for the seniors to encourage leadership skills and bonding with their peers with a week long camp towards the end of the year prepares our senior students well for secondary school. We also offer a New Entrant induction programme ‘Starting School at Kaitoke’ to ensure the best possible start for our five year olds. Our school has junior and senior school choirs, sports teams, swimming sports, Kaitoke Academy and a variety of events with our cluster of country schools.

Our fabulous children, dedicated and professional staff, committed BOT (Board of Trustees) and hardworking FOTs (Friends of the School) make Kaitoke School an exciting and successful learning environment.
